 July 9 - Violin Duet

Violinist: Mia Bella D'Augelli

Offering variation of favorite hymns such as In the Garden, and my original score, A Prayer for Peace

Mia Bella D’Augelli is a violinist based in Oakland. As a performer, she plays solo in various settings – falling in and out of notation – and is a member of the Town Quartet (a traditional string quartet) and the Redwood Tango Ensemble (a sextet for milongas and new tango chamber music). She plays periodically with other chamber ensembles, symphonies, pit orchestras, and pop groups, including the Livermore Valley Opera and North State Symphony Orchestra.  She has worked closely with composers of today such as David Behrman, Brett Carson, Andrew Jamieson, George Lewis, Mateo Lugo, Roscoe Mitchell, Aaron Novik, and Lewis Patzner. Mia enjoys playing at St. Augustine’s because of our amazing acoustics and innovative variations on traditional hymns.

July 16 - Percussion Duo with Keyboard

Percussionists: Harold Haynes, Muhammad Ali

Presenting a unique blend of African Hand Drums and spiritual hymns.

Harold “Butch” Hayne is a seasoned percussionist in the Conga, Bongo and Timbale Drum technique. A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, he was one of the founders of the Sprout Plaza drumming circle, and he has been teaching Afro-American/Cuban drum tradition. Butch has recorded, performed and toured with Herbie Hancok, Carlos Santana and Giovanni Hidalgo among many others. When he’s drumming, he brings his love for God into his rhythm.

Muhammad Aleem Ali is a percussionist and an educator. He has performed with Maya Angelou in "Blacks Blues Blacks" and with the Joel Dorham Latin Jazz Octet. Muhammad’s recent performances include the Concord Jazz Festival, the Hillsborough Jazz Festival, the Black Film Makers Hall Of Fame.

July 23 - Soloist Michael Orlinsky with Organist Mark MacDonald

Offering a powerful sacred solo piece as well as our traditional hymns.

Michael Orlinsky is a gifted opera singer who performs with San Francisco Opera House, Opera San Jose, among many other institutions in the San Francisco, Chicago, Las Vegas areas.  He has sung over 35 roles in his quickly budding career and was particularly noted for his Chicago Premiere of Nielsen's Maskarade. Michael has performed with our choir on various occasions, and he loves singing at St. Augustine’s because of the warm welcome he received each time.
