Wednesday Evening Bible Study Begins

Starting on Wednesday, June 14, at 6:30pm we will again be offering a weekly Bible Study experience at Saint Augustine's. For the summer, we will preview the Sunday Lectionary readings, and conclude our gatherings with Compline (a brief worship service in the Book of Common Prayer for the end of the day). Please plan to join us and invite your friends.

Receiving the Bread and Wine at Holy Communion

Here at Saint Augustine's there are a variety of ways that you can receive the bread and wine at Holy Communion. To help the severs know your intentions, please consider using the following signals as you come to the altar rail:

  • Arms crossed in front of you - receive a prayer in blessing instead of the bread and wine
  • Hands one atop the other, palms up - receive the bread, and then the wine from the chalice
  • Hands clasped together - by intinction, the server will dip the bread in the wine and place it on your tongue

Please note, it is always appropriate to receive Holy Communion in just one kind (only the bread or the wine) if there is a personal or health reason to not receive both. Everyone is welcome at the Lord's table. Please signal an usher if you would prefer that the bread and wine be brought to you where you are seated.

Food Pantry Support Item Of The Week

NEXT WEEK please bring cans of soup and Vienna sausages to support our food pantry ministry. Also, personal hygiene items are needed- toothpaste, tooth brushes and deodorant.
